Need Help when recording from a keyboard
Hi.
I am not musical at all but my son is and I am trying to help him record a song and see if Notation Composer is something he can use without major assistance. First song he wants to record....he plays most of the song on the left side of the keyboard and I can not figure out how to separate the hands when the music is generated...they both appear on the bottom staff of the music. His music teacher has told me his song is played in D minor. Any help would be appreciated. |
Re: Need Help when recording from a keyboard
Hi,
You can either record initially into two hands (two staves) by selecting both staves when starting the recording. 1. Select both staves (click the Staff Select button for each while holding the "Shift" key) 2. Start recording - the notation will be split between the two staves when it's transcribed. Alternatively, you can use "Staff/Split Hands" after the recording to split the notation into a two-hand (two staves) part. 1. Select the staff. 2. In Staff menu, click on "Split hands" - it will show you your already selected staff (or you can select it now if you didn't in step 1.) 3. Click OK - the notation gets split between the two staves. The software documentation that seems to emphasize modifying existing MIDI files rather than creating new music.
