I thought it would be easy to copy and paste from one song to another, but nothing happens when I try to paste in a new song bars I have copied from another song. Is there a trick to this? I select the bars in the original song - copy . Open the new song select the bars where I want to paste- select paste and nothing!

Hi Panworks,
In Help -> User Guide, you can look up (using the Index) "copy and paste" for step-by-step instructions.
The main steps are
Decide what it is you want to copy and paste. You can copy and paste notes and all, or you can copy and paste just Lyrics, or just a particular MIDI cc graph.
In the source file, use Region/Select to select the region to copy, and then either use the shortcut "CTL + C" or use Edit/Copy
In the target file, use Region/Select to select the region to paste into, and then use either the shortcut "CTL + V" or use Edit/Paste
There are also "special" paste operations you can do, like repeating a loop, inserting measures, etc. Those fall under "Edit -> Paste -> Special....."
Hope this helps!

Yes, I believe that I did exactly that procedure and it works if I am pasting in the same song but when I try to paste in a new song nothing happens.
Hi, Panworks:
I can confirm that cutting and pasting between different files does work.
You need to make sure that the staves you are pasting into have the same layout as what you have copied: if you have fewer staves, then sometimes then resulting paste can be gibberish because the staves don't have the same clef layout.
You might try a fresh boot of Composer and see whether that cures the problem.
Hope that helps.

Hi guys,
If you're still having problems, could you maybe post both song files here and tell us where you're copying from and where you're wanting to paste to (the measure numbers and staves in both cases)? That should help us figure out the issue.

Sherry
