The theme from the “Star Wars” movie series was written in 1977 by John Williams.

I would be remiss if I were to produce a “Star Trek” duet, and not produce a “Star Wars” duet, so here it is.

Some of this piece is a reduction of John Williams’ arrangement, and some is my own variation.

It is not an easy piece to read, as there are a lot of eighth note triplets, and there are a couple of 5/4 and 3/4 measures sprinkled in the piece. I think your familiarity with the theme will help with the time signature variances.

My wife Cynthia actually notated a major portion of this theme for herself in 2009, using a letter notation system she calls tootling. This is why the piece shows a 2009 date at the bottom, as that was her start date for playing the song. Cynthia was able to capture the letter notation (notes of the scale) for reading, while she used her memory of the note durations to help her play the piece. This was very early in the process of her learning how to read music.
