Midi keyboard and NC 3 - latency?

I currently use NC version 2.6, on a PC using Windows Vista. I have purchased a midi keyboard (m audio keystation 32) which connects with NC fine, but latency is a problem. When I upgrade to NC 3 current version, will this problem be resolved?

Hi,

Most likely what you need to do is the following:

1. Disable the GS Wavetable. It is known to interfere with some devices and cause latency. You can do this in Composer by


running Composer,
clicking Setup -> MIDI Devices configuration
clicking Port -> Select Ports
UNcheck the box on the right-hand side for "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth"

Then...
2. Install an ASIO driver. ASIO is a protocol (audio stream input/output) that practically makes latency disappear. There is a good free one at www.asio4all.com



That should do it. Just set your keyboard as your default output device and enjoy :)
