I am trying to format a Fake Book Lead sheet ready for printing. My problem is that Composer will squeeze as much music on page 1 as possible. If page 2 is let's say only 20 bars then composer spreads vertically spaces the staffs to fill as much of the page as possible. This means I have wide gaps between each staff on the second page. How can I get around this so that page 2 has the same VERTICAL spacing as page 1?

Hi,

We do have a "wish list" feature to have X systems per page. But til then, probably the easiest thing to do (at least it's what I do :) ) is to count the number of systems (lines) you have in the file, then use Layout/Page Layout/Split Page, and click on the system that will give you one less system on the first page than on the second. In other words, if you have 15 systems total, click on the first measure of the 8th system to have 7 systems on page 1 (which leaves room for the title at top) and 8 systems on page 2.

Where do I find this "Layout/split page" ? It is not anywhere in the layout menu. I have the latest version of composer

So that is actually called "page break" I have used that to move systems from the 1st page to the second page but it then moves the systems on the second page to a 3rd page leaving one system on the 2nd page.

Hi, Panworks:

If you end up with an orphan staff on a page, you can then delete the Page Break that is moving your subsequent systems to the next page and close it all up. You may have to do this several times.
