http://it.tinypic.com/r/mhxcef/8 Hi Sherry
can you tell me if it is possible to change in Composer, the position of the drums on the staff, so they play these in their proper position?
For example, the C note on the staff is playing the snare,
While in the Default configuration Composer, makes it sound a whistle .......
you can change the drumkit, Sint.SW Microsoft Wavetable?
thanks
Franco

Hi Franco,

Our products currently show the General MIDI (GM) "pseudo-pitch" of each drum instrument, rather than the "typical drum notation" of each instrument.

As a work-around, some of us create two drum staves - one is for printing, and looks like the drummer would use. The other is "hidden" (not included for the print Part) and does the actual performance. This is obviously more work, but for now it does the job of enabling someone to hear the drums as they are intended to sound (the hidden performance staff) and to print out a part that a real drummer can use (the print Part).

If you look in the "Share your music" section of the forum and find some pieces by Ralph Rayner, some of his recent band arrangements use this technique. You can open his .not files and have a look.

I should also add that "standard drum notation" is on the "to do" list for a future release.

ttfn,
Sherry
