I would love to be able to import and edit a PDF into composer and also be able to save a file as a PDF. Big on my wish list! Cheers from Australia.

Hi,

Thanks for the tips on what features you'd like to see - we are working on lots of improvements for the upcoming release :)

For now, there are a couple of things you can do.

For music OCR, if you're only doing single instrument or two-hand piano, you can get a small program called Photoscore MIDI Lite from http://www.neuratron.com/photoscore.htm (look in the right-hand column for the text "A reduced functionality version also available to purchase (http://www.neuratron.com/order.asp)" and click the "purchase" link.) On the next page, select the "Lite" version from the drop list. It typically runs $59 usd, though sometimes they put it on sale for less. The "reduced functionality" just means that it's the OCR scanning only, which is all you need to use with Notation Composer.

For PDF creation, you can use any of a number of free tools that will "print" a PDF copy of your file (as well as any file from any program that can be printed - handy little applications :) ). I use PDF Creator (available free/donate at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ and CutePDF available free at www.cutepdf.com (download the free version). After installing either of these, you use them as a "printer" to save PDF files (ie., use File/Print rather than File/Save as.)

Hope this helps!
Sherry
