Hello GPO fans,

A new, 35-page tutorial describing how to use GPO with Composer is available at www.notation.com/MidiNotateComposerGPOTutorial.htm (http://www.notation.com/MidiNotateComposerGPOTutorial.htm)

An Acrobat PDF version is available here: www.notation.com (http://www.notation.com)\MidiNotateComposerGPOTutorialFil es\MidiNotateComposerGPOTutorial.pdf

It was fun to have an excuse to play around with GPO some as I was writing this tutorial.

Cheers

Hi Andrew,

Perhaps Gary is still extending his "group buy" price $139 to MidiNotate users. (http://www.notation.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=26888&post=10221#POST10221) When you get ready to start on GPO, make sure that you meet its system requirements, particularly memory (RAM).

Howdy,

Sorry, but I think the group purchase has ended http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/sad.gif I noticed that when I checked the Garritan website this afternoon. Of course if there is a "secret handshake" that Composer users are supposed to get, that may make it a different story.

ttfn,
Sherry

Yup - I just followed the link that Gary had put in, and it indeed is over.

Since it came off so well, maybe they'll do something like that again. We can all keep our eyes open, because it is a wonderful library to have!

Sherry

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the GPO manual Mark. I'm looking forward to receiving the software now the Group purchase is over.

I've increased the RAM on my computer to 1.5GB so I'm all ready to go.

From the demos and 'auditions' on the GPO website I'm sure that this will make a tremendous difference in sound quality.

I notice there is a 'jazz' version in the pipeline. That will be a worthwhile addition. I hope there will be a good deal in the offering for existing GPO customers who buy a second orchestra.

Thanks to whoever organised this group purchase arrangement.

Cheers ... Clyde

Hi Mark, Do you need to install the ASIO for all driver in order for GPO to work with Composer as I am using a EMU 404 soundcard with ASIO drivers. And yes I did order GPO!

Hello Andrew,

The ASIO driver for your EMU 404 soundcard will be fine.

I'll update the tutorial to say that the ASIO4ALL driver is needed only if your soundcard doesn't come with an ASIO driver.

Cheers

Howdy Andrew,

I'm not Mark http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif but are you trying to d/l the examples from the Tutorial that Mark posted, or the one that's posted on the Garritan Personal Orchestra site (www.garritan.com (http://www.garritan.com))? I know that the one on the GPO site had a few broken links to some of the pix and some of the example files, and I'm not sure whether or not they're all fixed yet.

If you're trying to d/l from the links in the tutorial that Mark posted on the Notation site (url link in the first message in this thread), then it would probably be helpful to tell him specifically which one(s), so that he can check the links there.

ttfn,
Sherry

Hello Andrew and Sherry,

I'm having some difficulty fixing the problems with this GPO tutorial page. For now, Sherry's advice is good, to download the .mid, .not, and .gpo files from the MidiNotate Cokposer GPO tutorial at www.garritan.com (http://www.garritan.com)
