hi

I wrote this piano ballad, and I wanted to see what people thought of it. I'm still working on the lyrics, but with the tentative title of "dark distant memories"

cheers, adrian.

Hi Adrian
I could not find any "dark and distant" moments in this highly romantic
ballad.I like it very much and I am looking forward to the lyrics.
Cheers
Djim

Thanks for your kind remarks.

I must explain how I came up with the tentative title: because lyrics are not my strong point (in terms of writing them), but ARE my starting point in terms of composition - I use old lyrics that are out of copyright and form the music "around" them.

These provisonal lyrics actually came from an 1890s Victorian Songbook that I found in a junk shop.

My next task will be to find somebody to come up with better lyrics that fit (if anybody wants to have ago, they'd be more than welcome), or try to amend the words myself to something more appropriate.

Thanks again - using VST instruments soon to start a recording in cubase and then uploading to youtube.

Hi Adrian,

Strikes me that art song might be a better description than piano ballad. The music suggests that the lyrics might be narrative, with perhaps changes in scene and certainly alterations in emotion. Reminds me of Mahler's orchestral songs. Good listening.

all best,
mgj

Hello Adrian,

Lots of good things happening in this piece-- melody, rhythm, harmony, tempo, orchestration. Nice work.

Cheers
