To attach a your .NOT file to a message, type the following in the message:

\attach{text description}

Typically, you should replace text description with the short name of the file, such as, "mysong.not".

After you submit the message, the forum will ask you to identify its location on your system, so that the forum can upload it.

...and don't forget the 500K file limit. Which is generous for a *.not file, and I'm not complaining! but I got caught uploading an admittedly bulky demonstration file and had to do some swift weight-reduction and splitting to get the illustration up!

Tim

Hi Tim,

Yes, I did put a 500K limit on file sizes in the forum, just so that the forum would not get too big too quickly, before I can afford to pay Rackspace the hefty fees they charge for bandwidth, disk space, and backups.

The 500K limit pretty much rules out .wav and .mp3 files, and includes most .not files. If you have a really big .not file, it's ok with me if you break it up into multiple .not files at natural breaks in the music.

Cheers

Hi Mark,

I did break it up into multiple files: the original "map" for Bobsprit's Hornpipe http://www.notation.com/discus/messages/26504/26538.html?1109371816
normally lives, muted and hidden, on the orchestration *.not file, so it can be consulted--not played--but budding it off into a separate file got me under your 500K uplaod. Which I re-iterate is a reasonable upper limit for a *.not file for the purposes here!

Regards
Tim

Howdy Eric,

You can search the Internet for a MIDI file (just use the "Browse the Internet" option in any of the MidiNotate products or visit http://www.notation.com/MidiFiles.php?parent=Community), and find an arrangement that you like. If you want to do any arranging of it, do that, then just "Save" the file. The default "Save" is as a .not file.

ttfn,
Sherry

Howdy enriqueboo,

I'm looking forward to hearing your composition, but for some reason the attachment seems not to have uploaded properly. Also, you'll want to post your music in one of the categories of "Share your music" rather than in this particular thread.

Please do try it again, and perhaps give us a little background on your piece. I'd love to hear it :-)

ttfn,
Sherry

Howdy Trent,

I just listened to this piece with a very nice piano soundfont - beautiful!

Perhaps you can tell us a bit about the composition - how you came up with it, etc. We have a special "Share your music" section of the forum here where you can post your music and tell us a bit about it.

Thanks for sharing this piece - it's absolutely lovely.

ttfn,
Sherry

Hi Trent,
I like it, too. Like Sherry, I would like to know a little more about it also. Very nice!
Cheers,
Fred
