Hi Mark,

When using Composer, I spend most of my time by modifying the score, by changing existing sections, or by copying and pasting. Some of this can be done in Composer very efficiently now. In some cases, improved functionality would reduce editing time.

Case 1.

I want to change an instrument in the drum staff, either for another instrument, or just change the velocity of the instrument. By telling Composer which note I wish to change, Composer should be able to select all other notes of that pitch in that staff, to allow me to make the necessary change.

Case 2.

I like to change a reoccurring group of notes in a song. I should be able to select a group of notes and than instruct Composer to select all other occurrences of that group, for a global change of pitches and rhythm.

Case 3.

Similar to case 2 above, but this time, Composer will select the next occurrences of my initial selection only one at a time, to allow me to vary each of the occurrences.

What I request, is a search and replace facility, that will allow global and individual changes to sections of the score. The user should be able to select one or several staves. It should also work on text.

Best wishes,

Herbert

Hi, Herbert and Mark:

I've been thinking about something similar, recently, as I'm using new drum software that puts some instruments on non-GM pitches, so that I have to manually select and move each note.

I've been wanting the ability to select notes by staff and pitch, so that I can select all C2 notes on a staff or whatever.

Herbert's idea is even more powerful, although I suspect more difficult to implement.

David

Hi Mark, David, ...

I like to add, that a search and replace facility should maintain the familiar ability of Composer to limit changes to a selected range of bars.

Best wishes,

Herbert
