In early beta releases of Composer 2.0, there was a single new Note Performance palette that integrated three sets of previously distinct palettes for: (1) piano roll, (2) note loudness (velocity), and (3) instrument sound changes. Due to beta tester feedback, the three separate palettes were restore.

The piano roll tools let you change the timing of notes. The loudness tool lets you change how loud each individual note it. The instrument sound tool lets you change the sound of subsequent notes from, say, bowed violin to pizz violin.
