I am using Midi note composer as a way of creating separate lines for a choir in order that they might learn the piece easier. I can pass on my midi files via e-mail to those who have access to a computer and have midi note installed. However there are members who do not have access to a computer, for these members I was wondering if there is any way of recording the midi files onto a CD that they might play them on an CD player and have only the sound and no visual notes?

Hello Catherine,

A couple tools for converting MIDI files to wave and MP3 are described in this other forum thread.

Hopefully soon I will put together a web page that lists a couple of good MIDI-to-wave/MP3/CD tools and tips for downloading, installing, and using them.

After reading the above thread you need some more help, please don't hesitate to ask here.

Cheers

Howdy,

Another method for converting MIDI files to WAV format that is not mentioned in the other thread is to use a program called SynthFont (free download at www.soundfont.com). You can use this program to "render" a file from MIDI to WAV. What it will do is actually record the performance of the MIDI to a WAV file.

Just do whatever you want to do to your files in Composer, save them as MIDI files, then use SynthFont to render (there's a little icon that says "to File") the file to WAV format. The WAV file can then be burned to an audio CD.

If you have any further questions, please do ask!
ttfn,
Sherry

Ooops - somehow I skipped the screen loaded with the above explanation in the other thread. Sorry for the repeat. Do I get demoted for that?

ttfn,
Sherry

Hi Sherry,

Thanks for mentioning www.soundfont.com here again, since this seems to be a favorite tool for converting MIDI to WAV.

Cheers
