i play the piano and i can play very well but i cant read music to save my life and was wondering if there is a way to get midi notate to show me the notes like a b c d and so on thanks for your help

Chris,

There are a lot of programs out there that teach sight reading.

For example, Anvil Studio has some random reading exercises built in:
http://www.anvilstudio.com
(and they will sell you more extensive exercises). I imagine that you could find several other free packages on the net that would teach you sight reading, and (speaking as a guitar player) I would have thought a few days practice reading on a keyboard with a dedicated program would be all you'd need to get started (I don't even really play keyboards, but I can probably read as well on a keyboard as on guitar).

I don't think MidiNotate was really designed with teaching basic sightreading in mind. Where it excels is in giving you access to a huge range of music that's posted on the net as midi files. This can really help your reading, since you can play the midi to check how it's supposed to sound, and you can transpose to different keys to give you things to practice (or transpose to the range or key of your instrument, if you play sax for example).
