I am using the registered (4.09) version successfully on my new laptop, but I am now trying to run it on an old Win98 system (300MHz AMD with 192 MB of memory). It generally works OK, but it pauses when changing pages and sometimes crashes (usually on exit) with: Invalid page fault: Module OLEAUT32.DLL at O1SF:6534F0FA I suspect there is something flakey about the midi driver (it's a cheap SoundBlaster), but perhaps the pausing is a speed problem. Are there things I can turn off that are likely to help the pauses? I'm not so worried whether the picture keeps up perfectly with the music. |

Mike, File OLEAUT32.DLL is a Microsoft systems file. Over the last three years I have heard a few reports from MidiNotate users that they have had a problem with this file. Perhaps you can find an updated version of that file at Microsoft's web site. If you cannot find it at Microsoft's web site within a reasonable amount of time (15 minutes, accounting for the fact that nothing is quick with Microsoft), let me know, and I'll help you find it. Well, it's not my day. I did a bunch of Microsoft updates, updated the SoundBlaster drivers, and now it crashes (but only when I exit) with page faults in OLEAUT32.DLL, OLEPRO32.DLL, and KERNEL32.DLL! The first two are now newer versions than what came with win98. Since it only crashes on exit it's still perfectly usable, but it still have the pause problem at the end of each page. Should I expect this with a 300MHz CPU, or is there something I can tune (I tried turning off the note highlighting, but that didn't help)? to reiterate, the program seems to leave the midi playing the same notes until it redraws the next page of music. |
