I play trombone so I sometimes change the treble clef lead instrument in Midinotate Musician, to bass clef trombone. Sometimes the part is just fine except it is one octave to high. QUESTION: Is there a way to lower that part by one octave??? Thank you | ||

Howdy, Changing the actual heard pitches of the notes would require changing the MIDI performance, which is beyond the capability of Musician. You would need Composer to be able to do this. However, you _can_ use Musician to transpose the instrument key for just the notation, which should be sufficient for your needs. To do this, you can take the following steps: 1. Open your file. 2. Use the "Staff/Transpose Instrument key" dialog. 3. Select the staff that you want to transpose, and click in the block which reads "Below" for that staff. You may need to slide your cursor over slightly to the left to get the proper drop menu (I've alerted Mark, aka Mr. Developer, to the need to tweak this mouse action a bit). 4. Select "Above" for that staff. 5. Next, click in the "O" column/row for that instrument (again sliding your cursor slightly left), and select "1". 6. Click "Finish". This should show the notation for your selected staff one octave lower. If the treble clef is still showing, just double click the clef sign, and in the dialog that pops up, scroll til you get the bass clef. Happy playing! ttfn, Sherry |
