Just downloaded the trial software. When I installed my spy software checker ( Pestpatrol ) informed me there was a keylogger software in the install. Does anyone know anything about this. I aborted the install. Normally keylogger is used by hackers or others to exploit your system. It can log all key strokes and send home. This can be passwords, account numbers, etc.

I cannot imagine what it is being used for , but I was reluctant to use the software.

Would appreciate if anyone knows what is going on here.

For anyone reading this conversation:

Terry and I traded some emails about this. He forwarded the MidiNotate 4.0 setup program to PestPatrol, to have them review whether the setup program was really doing keylogging (I'm not really sure what "keylogging" means). Terry reported back that PestPatrol's preliminary conclusion is that their software had misported the MidiNotate setup program as doing anything "wrong".

Cheers

Howdy,

Never thought for a moment MidiNotate would be a stealth program :-)

"Keylogging" is keeping a log of keystrokes that are made. In this way, some nasty folks can surreptitiously then have the keylogger program send them the log of keystrokes that you've made at your computer, in the hopes that you've entered something useful like a protected password to some site, or your credit card numbers, or other useful personal information.

ttfn,
Sherry

HI, Just got the report back from PestPatrol confirming that the detection of the keylogger was a false alarm. So, just to confirm, there is no problem with the Midimotat. Pestpatrol has updated their scan strings to correct the problem.

Sorry for the confusion.

Terry

Hi Terry,

Thank you for reporting back that MidiNotate is "not guilty" of keylogging (which I'm still not sure what that is :-) I appreciate the effort you put into asking the PestPatrol people to investigate the MidiNotate setup program.

Cheers
