I know you angonized over what features should be in Player so that it was a useful product and also lead users to want to progress onto the more complete systems.
On two occasions now I have wanted to advertise player as a very useful adjunct to allow minor user adjustment to my files that are available on the web.
My new site at www.smallchurchmusic.com offers MP3 and Midi files. The midi files often double as Karaoke files, and I'm suggesting Churches that use the file work with 'Van Bascos' karaoke player. This does allow for a bit of configuration, but not enough.
What I would like to do is to be able to give users the options to:
(a) Change the key of the file. The player allows you to do this on the run, but not permanently.
(b) Change the instrument. I have defaulted to trumpet, piano and accoustic bass. I would like to allow my users to change these sounds if they so desire.
and then of course, to be able to save the file as a 'midi' file.
I can understand how everyone wants a little more, (eg for users to delete a range of measures), and it is hard to know where to draw the line.
However, I currently find Player too light on options to be able recommend it to my users.
So I thought I would raise the topic again.
I have attached a 'midi karaoke file of 'Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah':
