What has happened to MidiNotate Musician 1.1? I mean there is no Automatic Title Put on the top of the page and no Auto numbering of pages?

I used to use the latest version of Midinotate before upgrading to Musician and that automatically placed a title and page numbers for you, and made things just that little better. With Musicain this seems very clumsy and does not work to well.

I also have Midillustrator, not that I prefer that over Musician I don't and find the music printouts accually easier to play with the printout of Musician over the other, but you could take a leaf out of their book because the Layout when printed is accually a lot neater then Musican's printout. Seems Musician has taken a step backwards.

Hi, Dennis:

MidiNotate Musician does have features for automatic placement of titles and page numbering.

The default template, in fact, includes those, with the title placed at the top centre of the first page, and title and page number at the outside edges of each succeeding page.

Is it possible that you've replaced with default page template with something else?

Cheers

David

Hello Denis,

When you find that the title and page numbers are missing in Musician, is that for a newly imported MIDI file, or is that for a .not file that was originally created using MidiNotate 4.0, or both?

The automatic title and page numbers are maintained in template .not files in the \Program Files\MidiNotate\Templates directory. The MidiFileDefault.not template is used for newly imported MIDI files. MidiFileDefault.not specifies the automatic title and page numbers, quite similarly to how MidiNotate 4.0 did the same.

If the problem is that MidiNotate Musician loses the title and page numbers for a .not file that you originally created using MidiNotate 4.0, then please attach an example of such a .not file.

Cheers

I have not been using MidiNotate 4.0 for ages and don't have it installed anymore. I downloaded a couple of Midi files to print out sheet music to play and no Titles or page numbers for any of the midi files.

Is there a way to view the page with a title and page number showing?

With Midillustrator it accually shows your page with title etc how it looks before printing. Is there a way to do this with MidiNotate so you can confirm it will print Title and Number.

I have not changed anything or any template with Midimusician. And have just reinstalled it.

But don't want to waste paper just to see if it prints a title. There needs to be a way to confim it is going to print it out before printing it, like a page view showing how it will look.

Yes, use the Page View command in the View menu. Perhaps that's all you needed to know to resolve this problem. With that basic option, which has always been available, does MidiNotate Musician then seem a lot more useful to you?

I find Midinotate Musician very handy, as I play the Organ, and can read Music. I use the Keyboard Fake music lead option as I am used to reading this style.

It is great also as I can have the bassline if I choose. If the Midi file does not contain Lryics I can break down the Tracks till I have a Melody track, so needs at times a bit of playing around to extract the right tracks. But a very useful program. Comparing Midinotate and the Other Midi to sheet music program. Midinotate is accually easier to read once I print out the Music.

Howdy Joe,

You will probably be able to work around this problem by following this procedure:

1. Exit Musician.

2. Right-Click the Start button at the lower, left corner of
the screen.

3. Choose Explore in the menu.

4. In Windows Explore, navigate to this directory:

c:\Program Files\MidiNotate

5. In that directory, rename file NoteSoft.ini to
NoteSoft.bak

6. Run Musician again.

If that does not solve the problem, please let me know.

ttfn,
Sherry

Thanks,
I tried the renaming but the error persists. The full error is:
musician has caused an error in kernel32.dll

Will be watching the forum here for any additional help you can give me.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.

I have reported this error to Mark, the developer.

I have another suggestion for you to try, if you're still game :-)

1. Do the above procedure again, renaming the current NoteSoft.ini to NoteSoft.bak or NoteSoft.ba2.

2. For any MIDI devices that you're planning to use _with_ Musician (such as any sound libraries or other sound engines), please turn them on before you start Musician.

3. Then try running Musician. Some of the device information may not have been configured properly, and hopefully this procedure will fix that.

ttfn,
Sherry
