Backing Up Your Purchased Copy of Notation Musician

The backup procedures described here are intended to help you restore the Notation Musician software if it has been lost on your system, for example, due to a hard drive crash. In addition, you may make a copy of the Notation Musician software and install it on another computer in your household, for use by yourself or other members of your household.

We have made it quite convenient for you to back up your software, and to install it on multiple machines in your household. You do not have to enter any registration codes; and the Musician software does not check at a central web site to determine whether your software is installed on more than one computer. By saving you the inconvenience of dealing with software copy protection procedures, we have trusted you to not redistribute Musician to other individuals who have not purchased Musician. Please honor our trust in you by not giving Musician to friends or other family members, outside of your household, who have not purchased Musician. Instead, please encourage them to purchase Musician themselves, to help support our continuing efforts to improve the Musician software!

If you have purchased Musician on CD-ROM, then there is probably no need for you to back up Musician. However, if you have a CD-Write drive, then you might want to make a copy of Musician for backup purposes.

If you have purchased the full version of Musician, and it was delivered to you via Internet download instead of on a CD-ROM, then follow one of the procedures below.

prcarrow To back up the full version of Musician that you have downloaded:

1.When you download the Musician setup program, make note of the directory to which it was downloaded.

If you do not recall the download directory, then:

(a)Click the Start button at the lower left corner of the Windows screen. This will display a menu.
(b)Choose Search in the Start menu.
(c)Follow the directions in the Search window for searching for the Musician setup program. Search for a file that begins with the letters "NotationMusician" and which ends with ".exe", by using the following "wildcard" syntax:

Musician*.exe

The search will find a file named similarly to Musician20Setup.exe

2.If you have a CD-Write drive, then copy the above single Notation Musician setup program (.exe) file to the writeable CD-ROM.
3.If you have another high-capacity storage media, such as a Zip drive, a tape drive, or a hard drive on a second, networked computer, then copy the above Notation Musician setup program (.exe) file to that media.
