Schubert MIDI Files

A list of the best web sites hosting Schubert MIDI music files, mostly free downloads.
You can turn any of these files into free sheet music with easy-to-use sheet music software.

Schubert's Most Famous Works - This selection of Schubert works has been prepared by Kristofer Andreasson. There are a few wave (.wav) files mixed in with the MIDI (.mid) files, so be sure to check which you are choosing. [The complete file name is displayed at the bottom of your screen when you position your cursor on the name of the musical work.]

Classical Piano MIDI Page - Schubert - This site by Bernd Krueger has a number of excellent Schubert piano pieces which can be downloaded singly or all together as a zip file.

Winterreise MIDI Files - This site has the MIDIs for Schubert's song cycle. The full lyrics are also available, and the midi files have accompaniment as well as the vocal melodies.

ON Classical's Franz Peter Schubert MIDI files - An extensive collection of Schubert's works - excellent quality files. To download a file, simply click on the "MIDI" text next to the title of the work. A limit of five files per day may be downloaded for non-members. For 15 Euros (about $19.75 USD), you can have unlimited access to all the files on this enormous site, as well as download them all in a zip file for convenience.

The Classical Archives - Schubert -This website has changed extensively, but has a tremendous number of fantastic MIDI files. MIDI files are now all free downloads, but you must find the specific work you are looking for and download the MIDI as follows:

  1. If you're not already a member (you can sign up for a free membership), click the "Become a member" link and enter your information.
  2. Find the particular work you’re looking for (do NOT use "MIDI" in any searches).
  3. Click the “MIDI” tab if there is one. If no "MIDI" tab is visible, then there are no MIDI files available for the work.
  4. Click on the “XX Midis” text.
  5. Click on the “Show sequences” text link to see the MIDI files that are available.
  6. Click the Download (or Add to Downloads) and the file is put in a cart called “My Downloads”.
  7. When you're done adding files (the MIDI files are free) to "My Downloads", click the "My Download button at the top of the page to go to your selected files and download them.

 

Laura's MIDI Heaven - Schubert - A nice collection of sequences done by various contributors. Clicking on the file name will activate a pop-up dialog with a few different options.

Classical Musical MIDI Page - Here is a biography of Schubert, along with a wide selection of piano midi sequences and some symphonies, which are downloadable as zip files.

Fichiers MIDI de Franz Schubert - This French site has a few symphonies and some piano sequences.

MIDI Chamber Music of Franz Schubert - This German site has a nice collection of chamber music sequenced by various contributors.
