Hymns,
Gospel Songs, and Spirituals - This page has Frank Petersohn's collection
of Christian songs with words and melodies. By default the songs are sorted
by first lines. Below the colored navigation bar, notice the link text
"to switch a Melody Title Sort". Click it to list the songs

4800 hymns from all denominations. On the home page, click on the "Titles"

download the entire collection by clicking the "Download all"
button at the bottom of the home page. This option takes you to a page
where you can download all the hymns as a zip file. You can also download
all the Christmas hymns as a separate zip file.
Hymns
to Enjoy - This site has dozens of MIDI files of hymns to download.
The complexities of the arrangements vary, as they are contributed by
several different musicians. You can find out who sequenced most arrangements
by clicking on the blue ball at the end of the title.
HymnSite.com - On this home page, use the Hymn Search feature or click the Hymn Index
button on the left of the screen. The index can be listed alphabetically
or numerically on the left hand side of this page. Click on a title to

the page past the lyrics. Click on Plain MIDI or one of the instruments
listed beside Plain MIDI to retrieve a MIDI file, or use other links for
hymn texts and piano sheet music.
Spirituals - This web site contains arrangements of a number of Negro spirituals.
"These songs could be heard out in the cotton fields of the Old South,
being sung by the plantation slaves, or in the evenings coming from their
shanty homes." Just click on the song title to download the MIDI
file. If your machine plays the song, then try right-clicking the song

Fill My Life With Praise - This well-done site by Clyde McLennan has original arrangements of some standards, as well as arrangements done of scripture passages, all done in a jazz style. Clyde has MIDI files available either singly or all of the files in a .zip format. To get the .zip file of all the songs, scroll down the home page til you see the MIDI connector icon, with the text "Midi/All Midi files" and click it to download the entire MIDI collection. Or, you can continue down the home page to the song titles, where you'll find links to individual song pages. These pages have the lyrics (which are included in the MIDI files) printed, as well as the individual MIDI file for download.
Music Resources for Smaller Churches - Another very useful site by Clyde McLennan, designed for "[b]acking files for congregational and small group singing. All files can be downloaded freely for Church use." The songs on this page are listed alphabetically, with the various file types listed in the right-hand columns. The MIDI sequences for these files are designed to provide both the printed sheet music for choral or other performance use (Notation Musician or Composer work extremely well for this), as well as for recording for performance "backing tracks." Simply click on the button for the song that is located in the "Midi" column ("Karaoke" row) and choose "Save..." to download the file.
Higher
Praise - This web site is at first disorienting, but overlook the
flashing and error messages, and click the 'speaker icons' to search through
categories of MIDI files, such as "Praise and Worship", "Hymn",
and "Children". There are a couple thousand worship MIDI files
here.
Christian
Hymnals - This web page contains a great aggregation of hymns from numerous denominational hymnals, all organized by topics
such as "Worship", "God", "church", "life", etc.
God's
MIDI Page - This web page offers several traditional hymns as mostly
piano and organ arrangements.
Southern
Harmony and Musical Companion OnLine - This well-organized site is
part of the CCEL (Christian Classics Ethereal Library) collection. You
can search for and find a sequence either by tune name, first line, composer
or meter. When the search results are displayed, click on the result you
wish to review. You will then see a facsimile of the original shape-note
score and will be able to download a MIDI file of the song.
