Sharing Your Music With Others so They Can View, Play, and Print Your Songs

Once you have prepared a song with Notation Composer, you might want to share it with others.

 

Share your Notation .not file, which can be viewed, played, or printed by the free Notation Player.

 

Others can download the free Notation Player from www.notation.com/DownloadNotationPlayer.php to see and hear your files.  

The free Notation Player lets the user view and play your music exactly as you saved it. .

 

Share your song as a MIDI .mid or Karaoke .kar file.

 

The MIDI file format is the most common format supported by Composer for sharing your song with others.  On most Windows systems, the user can double-click the MIDI file name and it will immediately start playing.

The MIDI file format directly supports only playing, not viewing and printing.

To export your song as a MIDI file, use the File menu's Export as MIDI command, and choose MIDI File as the save-as file type.

 

Share your song as a MusicXML .xml file.

 

MusicXML is a standard file format for sharing the notation of music scores between different music software programs.   Many of the most popular music notation programs can import MusicXML files that have been saved by Notation Composer.

To export your song as a MusicXML file, use the File menu's Export as MusicXML File  command.

 

Share your song as an audio file:  wav, mp3, ogg, or flac

 

Notation Composer can export both uncompressed and compressed files for use in audio production software or audio devices.  To export an audio file of your music, just use the "File / Export...Audio command and select the type of audio file you wish to export.  If you find that you need to change the loudness or softness of the exported file, please see the section on setting the gain for audio exported files.

 

 

 

Share your song as a PDF .pdf file.

 

PDF files are easily shared between computer platforms, making them a great way to share music sheets with friends.  

To export a high resolution copy of your song in PDF format, simply use the File / Export...PDF command.

Share your song, or parts of it, as an image (.bmp, .jpg, .png, or .gif) file.

 

Image files can be easily inserted into other document types which makes them a great way to share snippets or examples from your work.  

To export a high resolution image from your song, simply use the File / Export...Image command.
