Preparing Parts Extracting Parts from the Conductor's Score

Selecting and Naming a Part

In Composer, a part displays the notes for one or more tracks. A part can be formatted and paginated independently of other parts extracted from the conductor's (entire) score. However, any changes to notes and annotations in an extracted part are always reflected in the conductor's score, and vice versa.

You can prepare several parts at a time, one per each track of the song, by using the Extract Parts command in the Part menu.

You can also prepare one part at a time, by selecting the one or more tracks that are to be displayed in that part, as described later in this topic.

You may have multiple prepared parts for the score. You can view only one part at a time, however. You may specify which part you wish to view by following the procedure below.

Generate/prcarrow.gif To prepare a new part by selecting one or more tracks:

1.      Choose the Select Part command in the Part menu.

-- OR --

Type "qpart" for Quick Select Part.

2.      Choose the option "Select one or more tracks to be displayed or printed together".

4.      By default, any tracks that you do not choose for the new part will still be heard as accompaniment during playback, even though the notes are not displayed. If you do not wish to hear the hidden tracks, then set a checkmark for "Mute the tracks not displayed".

5.      Click the OK button.

Composer will then present the following dialog box:
