Displaying Easy Note Letters in Noteheads

Beginning music students may find Composer's "easy note" notation a helpful way to associate pitch names with note positions in a staff, such as illustrated here:

There are two ways that you can prepare an easy notes part such as the above.

Generate/prcarrow.gif To prepare an "easy notes" part:

First Method for Preparing Easy Notes

Generate/B816.gif      Choose the Prepare Easy Notes command in the Part menu, and follow the instructions described in Wizard for Preparing Parts.

Second Method for Preparing Easy Notes

1.      Use the Select Part command, to prepare a part that has just one track-- the track holding the melody.

2.      If the track includes both melody notes and accompaniment notes, then use the Split Melody and Accompaniment command in the Part menu. This will create a pair of tracks, one with the melody and one with the accompaniment.

3.      Choose the Display Easy Notes for Select Tracks command in the Part menu.

-- OR --

Type "qent" for Quick Easy Note Track.

Composer will display the Show Easy Notes dialog box.

4.      In the Show Easy Notes dialog, select one or more tracks for which you wish to display pitch letters in the noteheads.

5.      Optionally, hide the accompaniment track, as described in Changing Which Tracks Are Displayed in a Part.
