Musician can accurately analyze
harmonies in a MIDI score to determine chord names and display
them above the top staff, as illustrated below:
When Musician analyzes the song for chords, you can specify which types of
chords will be detected, in a dialog box such as illustrated
below:
Different styles of music tend
to use different kinds of guitar chords or piano chords. In the
above example, the checkboxes show the types of chords Musician initially selects for the "Country" music style. You
can permanently change the types of chords selected for a given
music style; or you can temporarily change the types of chords
selected for a particular song. Musician distinguishes
common chord names from uncommon ones with the white versus gray
background, but you can select or unselect any of the chord types.
Upon selecting the types of
chords, Musician analyzes the harmonies of notes in
those staves (tracks) you are currently viewing, and ignores
notes in staves that you have temporarily hidden. This way, you
can help Musician focus on parts that have mostly notes
in the harmonies of the chords rather than "passing notes".
Once Musician displays
the chord names in your MIDI file song, you can quickly type
these chord names into Band-in-a-Box. Musician does
the hard part of analyzing the chord names for you!
Using Musician to
analyze chord names in MIDI files is only one of many ways
