It is easy to set up links from your web
site to Notation Software's web site. But it is important that you carefully
follow the instructions below so that you will receive credit for purchases
of Notation Musician and Composer that result from your
referrals.
There are three kinds of referrals your web
site can make to Notation Software's Notation products.
- Refer your web site visitor to the trial version of Notation Musician and Composer, which your web site visitor will download and try out before deciding to purchase the product. A cookie will be dropped on the visitor's system. Later, when the customer purchases the product, the cookie will be read by plimus.com, and Plimus will credit your affiliate account with the 25% commission.
- Refer your web site visitor to the product information page where the features of Notation Musician or Composer are described. The same mechanism as described above works for this method of referral.
- Offer your web site visitor a 'Buy Now' option,
which sends your visitor directly to the online ordering form for Notation products.
These three types of referrals require three distinct types of links from your web site to Notation, but all work the same way, as described below. All three types of referrals
are managed by Plimus, which
is the service we use to process online orders and to manage our affiliate
program.
How to Set Up an Affiliate Referral Link from Your Web Site to a Notation Product
You will use Plimus's affiliate management system to set up the affiliate referral link from your web site to one or more Notation products.
Before you can do this, you must first do the following to things:
- Sign up as an affiliate in Plimus's affiliate system.
- Receive an email from affiliates@notation.com that indicates that your affiliate sign-up has been approved. This email typically arrives 2 to 24 hours after you have completed the first step above.
Upon completion of the above two steps, go to www.plimus.com, and click the Affiliate Login option, as shown:

That will take you to a login page where you should enter your Plimus affiliate username and password.
After you log in, you will be taken to this Plimus web page:

Click the 'Get BuyNow Links' button, as shown above. That will take you to a Plimus web page that looks like this:
The above Plimus web page provides you the exact web page URLs that you should use for the <a href= ... /> referral link in on your web page.
For example, suppose you would like to include the following 'Free Trial of Notation Musician' button on your web page, with an affiliate link to Notation Software's download page for Notation Musician:

Your web page HTML for the above button will initially look like this before you add the affiliate link:
<img src="images/FreeTrialOfNotationMusician.gif" width="301" height="40" />
On the Plimus affiliate links page, find the Trial Version Link for Notation Musician. In the above example, Notation Musician is listed in the second row of the table, and the Trial Version Links are provided in the second column of the table. So choose the link in the second column of the second row, for the referral to the trial version of Notation Musician. The link looks something like this:
https://www.plimus.com/jsp/download_trial.jsp?contractId=1667763&referrer=YourAffiliateID
In this example, your Plimus affiliate name will be offered in the table instead of "YourAffiliateID".
Finally, in your web page editor (such as Front Page, Dreamweaver, etc.), select the button, and then copy the above link into the "Link" (<a href>) specification for the button. Or, manually edit your HTML. Either way, the result will look like this:
<a href="https://www.plimus.com/jsp/download_trial.jsp?contractId=1667763
&referrer=YourAffliateID"><img src="images/FreeTrialOfMidiNotateMusician.gif"
width="301" height="40" border="0" />
